About

A Little Background........

Dog House Heating & Plumbing was created by Master Technician, John Scola.  He began his career back in 1994 as an apprentice for a plumbing company out of New Hampshire.  John then graduated from Southern Maine Technical College's 2 year heating and plumbing program in 1996 and now has over 16 years of experience in the P&H field.

Realizing how important continuing education is, John regularly goes to seminars and classes and reads to broaden his knowledge so he can provide the very best service to his customers.  He has a special interest in new, innovative heating products that focus on energy efficiency and less dependency on oil.  In the long run this will save customers money and help our planet.

Why the Name Dog House Heating & Plumbing?

This is a question often asked.  Since 2000 John and his wife, Maria, have adopted 13 dogs (most elderly and/or special needs) from local animal shelters and rescues from as far away as Virginia (this is not counting the cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats and hamsters also adopted).  There is no doubt there will be more furry family members that will share their home in addition to these in the years to come.  It seemed fitting to name the business after something so prevalent and important in their lives.

The animals in shelters are not defective, they end up there due to many reasons and there are simply not enough homes for all the animals being born.  Spaying and neutering companion animals plus rescue/adoption would help the overpopulation problem immensely.  The estimate is about 80,000 dogs & cats are euthanized in U.S. shelters (imagine the number worldwide) each week!

Please, please consider adoption if you are thinking about adding an animal (any animal, not just dogs and cats) to your family.
